Dumpling Daughter in Weston, MA

Finally got to try this place out. The most popular dish seems to be the three day old ramen. This is a noodle soup dish with an egg that’s slightly runny and three slices of braised fatty pork. One order sets you back $12.

We also tried a few other items from their menu. Everything tastes fine. Nothing that would make me force a trip out here to eat. The soup dumplings were juicy and hot. The fried dumplings were lightly fried on one side. The scallion Lo Mein was very buttery tasting…and it cost $3 to add dry chicken to it (skip the meat next time). Just the plain buttery noodles cost $9 already and they charge $3 more for some meat?!?

The prices are a bit high, but that may not be a problem for the locals in Weston. For the rest of us from the city, it’s just one less reason to drive out to Weston. It’s not like there is anything else in Weston for folks to enjoy. Plus we can get similar or better food
In the city for less.

The service here is really good. Decor is nice and trendy. People are very friendly. We even had our soup dumplings (XLB) comped because they missed our fried dumplings order. The owner herself walked over to apologize for the mix up. She and her staff seem to genuinely care about how our dinner and experience was.

So the food was good, not spectacular or special. The location is out of nowhere for the city folks. The prices are a tad high. I’d say it’s worth an initial visit…dunno if I’d go out of my way to go there again though.
